Agoura Hills

Sitting on the border of Los Angeles County and Ventura, Agoura Hills has a population of approximately 23,000 and is still growing. This newly incorporated community resides in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, an area also known as the Conejo Valley. Agoura Hills is located about 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles.

Centuries ago, the area was home to many Native Americans who controlled the land and utilized it for hunting game and other provisions. The Mann and Agoura Theaters, along with Live Theater productions, and The Canyon Club are great places to catch musicals and plays throughout the year. The Reyes Adobe Historical Site is Agoura Hills' first home and offers several pieces of California history with documented stories and artifacts. Regionally known for its music scene, Agoura Hills is the home to famous alternative-rap-metal bands such as Linkin Park and Hoobastank. Chumash Park is a wonderful place to catch a summer concert, with the annual “Summer Concert in the Park” event. Admission is free and the park offers a variety of festivities and food. “Movies in the Park,” which is held in Sumac Park, offers a variety of films that are shown periodically throughout the summer.

Agoura Hills real estate and overall development took off in the 1980s, in part because of the introduction of the Ventura Freeway, which made for an easy commute to nearby Santa Monica, Hollywood, and Los Angeles. Agoura Hills offers 3 elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The average household income of its residents is approximately $90,000.
