Alhambra
With South Pasadena to the south, San Marino to the north, and San Gabriel to the east, Alhambra lies within the western San Gabriel Valley and is home to approximately 86,000 residents. Alhambra was founded as a suburb of Los Angeles in the early 1900s, and has experienced a boom of rapid growth ever since the discovery.
Named after the book, “The Tales of Alhambra,” this city has grown into a melting pot of different ethnicities and cultures, ranging from Asians, Mexicans, African Americans and Caucasians. Alhambra offers six public high schools, and several other public and private middle and elementary schools, which provides parents with plenty of options when deciding on a school for their youngsters.
Some of the local attractions within Alhambra city limits include the Burke Heritage Park, the Alhambra Historical Museum, and Shorb Garden. The Rose Bowl, which is in Pasadena, is approximately 4 miles away.
The average household income in Alhambra is approximately $44,000. Today, Alhambra offers over 30,000 housing units, which leaves citizens plenty of choices. The northwestern fraction of the city is home to Alhambra's most expensive neighborhoods. The “Bean Tract,” as locals call it, was named after Jacob Bean (a well known resident) who purchased 104 acres and developed it into citrus groves. Now the area consists of some of Alhambra's most prestigious homes.
Alhambra is no longer one of the best kept secrets in California. With its easy access to interstates, its close proximity to Los Angeles, Pasadena, and other surrounding cities, Alhambra has plenty to offer to a wide variety of people.
