Maywood

If you're all about the small town atmosphere, Maywood may be the place for you.  Listed as the third-smallest incorporated city in Los Angeles County, Maywood had a total population of just over 28,000 at the 2000 census.  That population is divided into approximately 6,469 households and an estimated 5,699 families who reside within Maywood city limits.

The city of Maywood employs its own parks and recreation department, which provides residents with programs for the elderly, adults, and children.  The Maywood Parks and Recreation Department is open to the public seven days a week, and its facilities include a weight room, gymnasium, volleyball courts, baseball and softball fields, a game room, social hall, and a play equipment area.  Several other community activities are held at the M.A.C., or the Maywood Activity Center, which is also available for public use.

The city of Maywood is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District, and offers five elementary schools to the Maywood area.  The district also offers a few middle schools and high schools, as well as a couple private schools.

Emergency services for the city of Maywood are served by Los Angeles County Emergency Services.  The Los Angeles County Fire Department and Care Ambulance Service both serve Maywood, while the Maywood Police Department provides its citizens with law enforcement.
