Monrovia

Located within the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in the San Gabriel Valley, Monrovia is located in the eastern part of Los Angeles County.  The population within Monrovia city limits was approximately 37,000 at the 2000 census.

Monrovia has been established for quite some time.  Incorporated in 1887, Monrovia is the fourth oldest general law city in Los Angeles and the L.A. Basin.  Formerly made up of orange ranches and a gateway from Los Angeles to San Bernardino, Monrovia has grown into a medium sized city over the years.

Monrovia offers several recreational and scenic parks, but perhaps the most well known is Monroe Canyon Park. Located on N. Canyon Blvd., the park is composed of 80 acres and offers several facilities to its guests, including a Nature Center, Cabin Conference Facility for rent, hiking trails, barbecues, restrooms, and picnic tables.  This is a great place for birthday parties and other social activities.

Monrovia conveniently sits along the 210 Freeway and offers easy access to nearby Los Angeles, Hollywood, Orange County, several beaches, as well surrounding airports (LAX, Ontario, Burbank, and Long Beach).  The Metropolitan Transit Authority and Foothill Transit bus systems make it easy and affordable to commute within the city.
