Montebello

Approximately 8 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Montebello had a population of 62,150 at the 2000 census.  There are approximately 19,000 housing units, 9000 of which are owner occupied.  The estimated cost for a single-family home is $213,600, which is very affordable considering its location.  

Montebello is surrounded by cites such as Monterey Park, South San Gabriel, and Rosemead to the north, Commerce to the South, Pico Rivera, and Los Angeles to the east.  The median income for individuals residing in Montebello was just over $38,000, with an average family income of just over $41,000.  Predominantly known as having a large Latino and Asian population, Montebello is also home to a significant number of Armenians.  

Montebello is served by the Montebello Unified School District, which is composed of eighteen primary schools, six intermediate schools, and three high schools, which gives parents and students plenty of options when determining which school is right for each respective student.  

The Montebello Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to offering activities to residents of all ages.  The Department offers activities such as after school recreation, senior citizens programs, aquatics programs, water follies, and year-round camps to keep the kids busy.
