Monterey Park
Located in the eastern portion of Los Angeles County, Monterey Park has a population of approximately 65,000 residents. Known as “Little Taipei” because of its strong ties to the Asian Market, Monterey Park has recently been home to a surge of businesses from the Chinatown district of Los Angeles.
The city itself is composed of 7.73 square miles and is located in the San Gabriel Valley, just a few miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Monterey Park has been incorporated since May of 1916, and though it is rich with tradition, the city takes a more modern approach to business, neighborhoods, and the overall community.
Monterey Park is conveniently located to three major freeways: San Bernardino Freeway-Interstate 10; the Long Beach Freeway-Interstate 710; and the Pomona Freeway-State Highway 60, which makes it easy to commute from Monterey Park to nearby cities and attractions.
The city is served by the Alhambra, Los Angeles, Garvey, and Montebello School Districts, which conveniently offer an abundance of schools for students to choose from. East Los Angeles College, a fully accredited college offering two-year vocational programs, as well as an undergraduate curriculum, is located within Monterey Park. California State University, which offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs, is located minutes away from the city.
