Pico Rivera
Located in Los Angeles County, Pico Rivera is a growing community that offers a wide array of opportunities for everyone. The city was incorporated in 1958, and the one time agricultural town has grown into a busy city that offers a nice balanced mixture of homes, businesses, parkland and recreational facilities.
The 2000 census listed the population for Pico Rivera at 63,428. Perhaps the most noteworthy reason for Pico Rivera's population and business growth has stemmed from its prime location. The city has the luxury of feeding off of ports from nearby cities such as Los Angeles and Long Beach. The city is also conveniently located next to several major freeways, including Interstate 605, Interstate 5, and Interstate 60.
Pico Rivera offers seven parks that total over 100 acres. The parks include tennis courts, basketball courts, jogging paths, swimming pools, etc. The city is served by the El Rancho and Montebello Unified School Districts, which offer a variety of schools for youngsters to choose from. There are several nearby state and community colleges surrounding the area as well.
Over seventy percent of the city's housing units are owner-occupied, which offers a boost to the city's economic growth. There are several new housing developments being built within Pico Rivera, and the city has built approximately 400 units in the last three years.
