San Fernando

Located in the northwestern section of Los Angeles County, San Fernando was named after the nearby Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana.  San Fernando is completely surrounded by Los Angeles, which allows its residents to enjoy the same attractions and conveniences that nearby Los Angeles offers.

San Fernando is a picturesque community that has a rich history dating back to the 1700s.  As is the case with the majority of communities in Southern California, San Fernando was once covered with farmland and ranches.  Now it has become a growing city filled with business and residential lots, which, in turn, has helped boost the local economy.

Some attractions within San Fernando limits include the Lopez Adobe, Mission San Fernando, and the San Fernando Museum of Art and History.  The Lopez Adobe is now registered as a National Historical Site, and is a great place to tour and learn about how early settlers managed to live.  The Mission was founded in 1797 and is one of the largest and longest missions in Southern California.  The San Fernando Museum of Art and History offers a wide variety of art from earlier centuries.

San Fernando is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District, and has a few elementary schools for local residents to choose from.  Real estate in San Fernando has been growing tremendously over the past decade, and most of that could be attributed to its prime location.
