Santa Monica

One of the most well-known beach towns in the nation, Santa Monica is known for its sandy terrain, coastal, urban walkways, beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, and world class dining.  A recent study claimed that the population for Santa Monica is approximately 91,124 residents.

Because of its mild winters and close proximity to nearby Los Angeles, Malibu, and Long Beach, Santa Monica has been a prime spot for resort development dating back to the early 20th century.  The population has grown rapidly because of its revitalization and economic boost, which at the same time has added to considerable job growth.

Perhaps one of the nation's most famous piers, the Santa Monica Pier offers attractions that no other pier can come close to rivaling.  The Pier is home to an amusement park, consisting of a rollercoaster, ferris wheel, carousel, and many other rides and games.  The Pier also has several sport-fishing stations, while at the same time offering fine dining and summer concerts.  Santa Monica is also home to Third Street Promenade, which is a major outdoor shopping mall that is designed for pedestrian traffic.  The outdoor mall offers a variety of upscale fashion shops and restaurants. 

Santa Monica is also home to the famous Palisades Park, which is a picturesque park that features a variety of bluffs and breathtaking views while sitting atop the Santa Monica Mountains.  The Santa Monica Looff Hippodrome is a National Historic Landmark and is located within Santa Monica city limits. 

Santa Monica residents are served by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, which has been regionally recognized for its prestigious public schools and distinguished staff members.  Santa Monica College is also located within the city, while UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and West Los Angeles College are all located minutes away.
