Temple City

Located in the eastern portion of Los Angeles County, Temple City had a population of 33,377 as of the 2000 census.  Temple City sits right next to Arcadia, Rosemead, Monterey Park, San Marino, and San Gabriel, and is known for having a large Asian population.  At the 2000 census, there were 11,338 households and 8,662 families that called Temple City home.

Temple City has its own Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for all recreational events, as well as public transportation programs.  Temple City has two public parks within its limits: Temple City Park and Live Oak Park.  Both parks are very well kept, and offer several acres of grass to allow their residents to enjoy. Temple City Park has a Performing Arts Pavillion, which hosts a number of concerts and community events.  Live Oak Park has several athletic fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, and picnic tables.

Temple City residents are served by the El Monte City Unified School District, which offers a total of six schools.  There are four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.  The district is known as a “District of Distinguished Schools” by the state of California because of their academic excellence and quality staff.
