West Covina


Incorporated in 1923, West Covina is a full service city located in Los Angeles County.  West Covina had a population of 105,080 at the 2000 census, and is estimated to be 110,525 residents currently, making it the 50th largest city in California. 

West Covina is largely comprised of single-family housing, with a few apartment and condominium developments scattered throughout the city.  A study conducted in 2006 revealed an estimated 24,194 single-dwelling units with approximately 8,332 apartment corps within the city of West Covina.  The city's residential area is primarily middle-class neighborhoods that are well maintained and kept up. 

The city of West Covina offers twenty elementary schools (13 public and 7 private) with three middle schools and two high schools.  One continuation high school and several vocational schools exists within the city as well.  Community Colleges such as Citrus, Mount San Antonio, and Whittier Community College are all located nearby.

West Covina's location allows easy access to several major freeways, including Interstate 10, 60, and Highway 57.  West Covina also offers a local shuttle bus service, connecting between regional malls, the Civic Center, and the Baldwin Metrolink train station.  The Ontario International Airport is located approximately 20 miles east of West Covina, while Los Angeles International Airport is located 40 miles west of the city.
