Anaheim

Founded in 1857 for the sole purpose of cultivating the area for vineyards, this city used to be the wine capital of the world.  Shortly thereafter, a guy by the name of Walt Disney would ultimately change the face of Anaheim forever.  Soon after his successful launch of his movie studio in Hollywood, Disney set his sights on opening an amusement park.  When it opened its doors in 1955, Disneyland attracted one million guests within the first six months.  The rest is history.

Positioned 28 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Anaheim is home for over 342,000 and is the most populated city in all of Orange County.  Known as the home of the river because of its close proximity to the Santa Ana River, Anaheim might be better known for its three lakes.  The Santa Ana River Lakes cover 135 acres, and offer bass, catfish, crappie, and trout to the general public.  The county park offers boats, rods and reels for rent, as well as two picnic areas and a concession stand for food and bait.

Anaheim is also home of some of the best public golf courses in the United States.  Golfers travel from all over the country to play Anaheim Hills Golf Course, and H.G. “Dad” Miller Golf course, designed by the renowned “Dad” Miller.  These courses are very well maintained and affordable.

The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim is a 19,000 seat arena, and home to one of the National Hockey League's most prolific hockey teams.  Nicknamed “the pond” by locals, the venue, opened in 1993, is also host to concerts and basketball games.  Separated by a few hundred yards is the home of the Anaheim Angels.  Edison International Field, home to one of major league baseball's most storied franchises, is a great place for the family to enjoy an affordable day at the ballpark.

Quite possibly Southern California's most preferred attraction, Disneyland allows the imagination to run free and allows real life fairy tales a chance to come true.  Disneyland offers a wide variety of theme parks, a water park, shows, dining, shopping, and tours. Those who wish to stay within the resort's limits have their choice of four different hotels: Disneyland Resort Good Neighbor Hotels, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.  Those not wishing to spend their evenings within resort limits have a plethora of hotels to choose from outside of the resort.

Anaheim is also home to some of the most abundant shopping centers in all of Orange County.  The Anaheim Indoor Marketplace is billed as Orange County's “largest indoor swap meet,” and offers a wide variety of small shops that host almost every conceivable form of merchandise on the market.  Hobby City/Adventure City sits on six acres of hobby and collectible shops, and provides hobbyists with an array of diverse shops.  Lincoln Antique Mall has 125 dealers with antique furnishing, artwork, and jewelry.

Anaheim is still cultivating as a city, and with that offers a wide variety of open houses and preconstruction sites.  Anaheim offers 68 public and private schools, and public transportation such as the Metro and OTCA make commuting trouble-free for everyone.  Amtrak and Metrolink are two rail systems that are located within city limits, and the John Wayne Airport resides 15 miles away from Anaheim.
