Brea

Brea was neglected by just about everyone but rancheros until its rich little secret, oil, was discovered by Union Oil Company in 1895.  Now, the town of Brea is home to nearly 50,000 residents.  In 1916, Brea (the Spanish term for “tar”) was incorporated as Orange County's eighth city and hasn't looked back since. 

Brea Mall is quite possibly the busiest retail mall in Orange County.  The mall is easy to navigate and is home to well known retailers such as Sears, Macy's, JC Penney, and Nordstrom.  Imperial Golf Course, renowned for its stipulating layout in the midst of rolling hills, is an affordable place to squeeze a round of golf in.  Green fees (and carts) will cost you about $55 on weekends, but some of the views are the most breathtaking you'll ever see.  Birch Hills Golf Course is a smaller venue, but well worth the green fees because of its glossy layout.

Residents have the luxury of catching the Brea shuttle, which will take them anywhere they would like within the city. They also have the choice of taking the city bus, OCTA. It's a cheap way to get around and not to mention, environmentally friendly.  There are many homes around the city ranging in different prices from $400,000 to $2 million. Nine schools, from Pre-K to High School and Public to Private, are available for children and families. They are equally spread out, so it won't be hassle for anyone to get their kids to and from school. Arovista Elementary, Brea Canyon High, Brea Junior High and Brea Olinda Friends Christian are a few of the recommended places of learning.

The Carbom Canyon Regional Park is a rugged terrain with guided nature tours and hiking trails to trek. It is a great way to get out of the bustle of the city and to become one with nature. With an average rainfall of 15.93 inches a year and 62.2 degrees being the average temperature, Brea is bound to be the ideal home for anyone.
