Buena Park

Located in the northwestern section of Orange County, Buena Park is home to approximately 82,000 citizens. What used to be strictly a farming community is now a landlocked suburb with plenty of attractions, including Knotts Berry Farm, which more or less put Buena Park on the map.

Knotts Berry Farm was once just a berry farm that was known for producing some of Southern California's most delicious berries.  People used to come from all over the region to taste their berries, which prompted them to build a successful restaurant as well as other attractions.  Fast forward to 2007 and Knott's Berry Farm is one of the most visited attractions in the country.  The latest addition is a 13 acre water park.  Filled with just over 2 million gallons of water, the park is sure to keep your kids occupied for hours.   Knott's Berry Farm also offers rollercoasters, as well as a little bit of history on Native Americans and Indian Towns.

Perhaps one of Orange County's best kept secrets is the Ralph B. Clark Regional Park.  The park features a 3 acre lake stocked with catfish, bass, and trout, as well as picnic tables and barbecue pits.  Possibly the single most intriguing aspect of the park are the two earthquake fault lines, which includes two, 100 foot vertical displacements.  Visitors should also visit the Paleontological Museum, a 6,000 square foot center that allows guests to study the life that roamed the earth over 400,000 years ago.

If you want to take a trip back to 1093 A.D., have dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.  Knights compete on horseback at full gallop, which allows families to enjoy horsemanship, swordplay, sorcery, and falconry.  Movieland Wax Museum is the only museum exclusively devoted to stars of stage, television, and movies from the past 70 years.  There, you will see wax, real life-sized celebrities, illustrating stars like Judy Garland, Sylvester Stallone and Marilyn Monroe.

Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, referred to as the “odditorium” by locals, offers a collection of weird physical replicas and magnificent displays that document events, places, and people.  Check out a size 36D shoe, made for the world's tallest man, or a Fiji mermaid, all within this 10,000 square foot museum.

Buena Park offers reliable transportation, whether it be by plane, boat, train, or automobile.  This suburb is land locked and is a place where the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5), Riverside Freeway (91), and Beach Boulevard (Highway 39) meet, which makes transportation a breeze.  The John Wayne Airport is located 20 minutes away as well.  There are 16 public and private schools within Buena Park's city limits.  Real estate prices vary, with houses starting at approximately $400,000 and creeping up to the lower millions.  With an average temperature of 70 degrees year round, its no wonder this former farmland is now a growing city.
