La Palma

Unfortunately for La Palma's founding fathers, the land is nowhere near what they initially wanted it to be.  A century ago, this land was strictly set out as “dairy land,” but now, this beautiful area in northern Orange County consists of mostly tract housing.  Covering only 1.76 square miles, La Palma is Orange County's smallest city and is known for having more seasonal events than some larger, well known cities.    

Some of the activities include the annual Easter Fantasy, which is held every April for children and adults, as well as the Annual 5 and 10K Run/Walk Celebration held each 4th of July and have attracted some 1,200 runners per event throughout the last couple of years.

The Central Park Amphitheatre holds music concerts during the months of July and August.  The series of shows includes some well known artists, as well as a few local bands that rock through the day and night.   

Halloween in La Palma features the Halloween carnival, which is set up at Central Park, and offers fun to families and children of all ages.  The carnival includes rides, plenty of food, a costume contest, and a variety of candy for kids and parents to choose from.

La Palma is home to a diverse selection of restaurants.  Establishments within La Palma city limits feature cuisines from Brazil, Pakistan, India, Italy, and Mexico.  Au La Gourment Vegetarian Restaurant is an ideal venue to take a vegetarian.  La Palma Plaza is also a convenient place to shop.  The plaza features a Wal-Mart, Mervyns, and several other well known retail and grocery stores.   

Real estate in La Palma will start at around $399,000 and can travel up to the lower millions, depending on what size house and property you are looking for.  There are five schools available to residents of La Palma.  Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of La Palma might be its location.  Located minutes away from Long Beach and approximately 45 minutes from Los Angeles, La Palma gives you easy access to nearby cities and beaches.
