Orange
Situated in central Orange County, the city of Orange is located approximately 32 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The city's area includes roughly 60 square miles, and holds a population of approximately 138,000. Known for its Old Town District, many of the homes in Orange were built prior to 1920. However, in the near future, Orange will move to modernize the Old Town area and expand its boundaries eastward.
Irvine Regional Park is the oldest and quite possibly the most scenic park in all of Orange County. Its bucolic atmosphere offers unrivaled attributes, including the Orange County zoo which offers pony rides where riders can view wild animals while riding along the rustic trails that the park has to offer.
Eisenhower is a charming little park located near the Santa Ana River. This modest sized park is also home to an animal farm with goats, chickens, ducks, and sheep for children to view and pet. There is also a small lake that is stocked with trout.
Orange is considered by some as "the antique capital of the world," and for good reason. Take a stroll down Chapman Avenue in the Old Towne Orange shopping plaza, and you will stumble upon nearly 40 antique shops where collectors preserve stalls of old treasures. You can find almost anything from jewelry, porcelain, paintings, art glass, and furniture. Just For Fun Antiques offers coin-operated goodies, and the Vignale Antique Gallery is known for its elegant Oriental art.
The Block at Orange provides a bleak contrast to the Old Towne shopping plaza, featuring a flashy open-air mall that merges the most up to date retail fashions, with restaurants and other forms of 21st century entertainment. Well known retailers include Ron Jon Surf Shop, Borders Books & Music, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Old Navy. Film City theatre houses 30 theatres, and is regionally known for its loveseats and contemporary sound system.
Vans Skate Park is an indoor/outdoor ecstasy for skateboarders and roller bladders. The world's largest skateboarding park offers dozens of ramps, bowls, and half pipes and is the perfect place for beginners to launch.
If you're a literature enthusiast, The Bookman provides customers with 8,000 square feet of new and used books, which makes it one of Orange County's largest book stores. Doll City U.S.A. is another large establishment located within Orange city limits. This 7,700 square foot shop prides itself on having the largest collection of dolls and accessories in the entire country.
The Orange Unified School District serves the city of Orange, and serves over 31,000 students with 29 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and four high schools, as well as a few continuation high school sites. Beautiful residential neighborhoods stretch in northeast Orange, towards the Anaheim Hills. Orange city also offers a wide variety of homes, many of which were built early in the century and offer a wide variety of style and elegance.
