Placentia

Nothing typifies Orange County as much as the combinations that proliferate within the Placentia city limits.  Placentia is a community where agriculture and new commercial developments are able to coexist, partly because of its natural geography.  At the Placentia Civic Center, you can find migrants working in the fields alongside it.   Loosely translated from the Latin term, "a pleasant place," Placentia certainly lives up to the billing.

A diverse array of German, Italian, French, English, Polish, Irish, and South American immigrants all brought a unique diversity to the Placentia area.  Placentia is also home to a spiritual colony called Societas Fraterna, created by a pioneer named George Hinde.  This colony was exceptionally unique for their time because they were vegetarians, even in the early 1900s!

Placentia got started on the agricultural front in the early 1900s, when this community was mostly orange groves.  Locals took advantage of this, and started shipping their product via rail, something that still occurs to this day.  Perhaps the most intriguing pioneer was none other than Georgia Key, whose ranch still resides within the Placentia village.  Onlookers are encouraged to walk through beautiful botanical gardens that are sure to help paint a picture of the early 1900s.

Tri Cities Park, which sits within Placentia city limits, still has remains of an orange grove, once Placentia's name to fame.  This park features a 10-acre lake that is suitable for both fishing and boating, and is stocked twice a year with a variety of breeds, most notably fresh water catfish.  Picnic tables, bike paths, and bike trails are also featured within the park.  During the summer months the Tri Cities Park offers a wide variety of concerts and shows, which generally begin at sunset and are very popular with locals.

Other attractions include the El Dorado theatre, which seats 250, and is a great place to catch a musical, drama, or children's play from May to October.   Bradford Stadium is a wonderful place to spend your 4th of July, hosting the annual Placentia community softball game, children's competitions, and the annual firework show when the sun goes down.

The Bradford House was the home of citrus grower Albert Bradford, and has a distinctive Orange County style.  The exterior of this old home features a three-sided porch.  Within this historical home, you will find intermittent furnishings and details.  This house is available for special group events and wedding receptions.

Placentia's population is just over 46,000 with the median age being around 33, and the median income for a family in the city of Placentia ranges around $68,000.

With over 150 acres of land yet to be developed, there is an abundance of preconstruction sites available for showings within Placentia.  As is the story with the majority of cities throughout Orange County, Placentia offers real estate for a variety of different families.  The average value for a house/condo in Placentia is approximately $610,000.
