San Clemente

Branded as "The Spanish Village by the Sea," San Clemente is known for its beautiful coastline and breathtaking views.  It's no wonder President Richard Nixon chose this city as the place of his "Western White House."   San Clemente is located in the southernmost part of Orange County, just south of Dana Point, and it offers more of a quiet perspective than the jostle farther north at beaches such as Newport and Laguna.

San Clemente is home to approximately 67,000, and the average age of citizens in the area is 38.  Like most Orange County cities, San Clemente's real estate market is open to a wide variety of budgets.  Investors can expect to find housing starting around $260,000, and on up to $5-6 million depending on the size of the home and land.

Avenida Del Mar is the center of town, and is home to the cafes and shops.  From the brick sidewalk that parallels this avenue allows you the ability to window shop and still have a view of the Pacific, which is why most of the residents do their shopping here.

Parking in San Clemente is easy because it does not offer the boutique shops and other tourist attractions that Laguna and others offer, which makes this a pleasantly easy town to maneuver around.

The Ole Hansen Beach Club was the site of the US Olympic trials for the 1932 Olympics that were held in Los Angeles.   The club is still a popular place for weddings and receptions.  The San Clemente pier is 1200 feet long and is home to one of the best restaurants in all of Orange County, Fisherman's Restaurant and Oyster Bar.  A clever way to journey in or out of San Clemente is to take advantage of the Amtrak train, with stops to and from Fullerton, Anaheim, or Santa Ana .

San Clemente Municipal Golf Course is one of the best, and oldest, courses in the state of California.  Featuring at least one view of the Pacific Ocean from every hole, this public course is open to everyone.  Cabrillo Playhouse is a great place to catch a Broadway play or musical, which is located one block north of Avenida Del Mar.
