Open House Avalon

Avalon is a city located on the eastern portion of Catalina Island, approximately 22 miles south/southwest of the Los Angeles Harbor breakwater. Avalon is a tiny area on the island (just over 2.75 miles) but the island itself holds 76 square miles. Residents of the island rest easy knowing that 85% of the island is a conservancy area that will never be developed.
Avalon is home to a permanent population of about 3,500, with an average visitor tally of approximately 1 million each year. As expected, housing in Avalon is first class and the real estate prices are there to prove it. Renting rates are somewhat comparable to Southern California beach towns.
The temperature is very mild and very rarely does it get above 85 degrees in the summer months. In the winter, temperatures usually don’t crawl lower than 50 degrees as you might expect from an island surrounded by the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Amenities and city services include two grocery stores, a hospital, medical and dental facilities, churches, a post office, and regular cable and phone services. Avalon schools are part of the Long Beach Unified School District.
