Open House Cudahy

Located in Southeastern Los Angeles County, Cudahy is the second smallest city within Los Angeles County limits. Populated mostly by Central and South America immigrants, Cudahy has a population of approximately 25,000 citizens.
Cudahy is located just eight miles from Los Angeles. The city is a residential community which is also home to commercial and industrial companies. The “Cudahy Acres” are long narrow lots within city limits that help determine the growth pattern within Cudahy. The city is predominantly made up of single family dwellings. Commercial activity is growing in the center of Cudahy, while the industrial plants are located in the southern section of the city because of its easy access to railroads and freeways.
The city of Cudahy is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District. The Los Angeles County Fire Department also serves the city, with ambulance transport provided by Care Ambulance Service. Cudahy is served by the Maywood Police Department, a neighboring city.
Cudahy was named for its founder, Michael Cudahy, a meat packing baron who originally purchased approximately 2,800 acres of land in Cudahy. Shortly afterwards, Cudahy resold the lots to area residents. Now, the lots are largely comprised of two and three story apartment buildings with nice views of nearby mountains and the downtown Los Angeles skyline.
