Open House Culver City

Located in the western area of Los Angeles County, Culver City has a population of approximately 40,000 citizens.  Founded by real estate tycoon Harry Culver in 1917, Culver City residents take pride in being the small town because of its close proximity to nearby giant Los Angeles.

Nicknamed the “Heart of Screenland” because of its rich movie history, Culver City is home to several noteworthy studios, including Sony Pictures, Columbia, and TriStar.  The city was home to several classics, most notably The Wizard of Oz, Rocky, and Gone With the Wind.

While Culver City developed a solid reputation in the movie industry, the school system's reputation is just as noteworthy.  The Culver City Unified School District is one of the most recognized districts in all of California.  The district offers five elementary schools, a middle school, and two high schools.

The city has a wide array of places of interest, but perhaps the most well known is the Culver City Public Theatre, which offers free, outdoor, classical theatre, is held annually each summer in the Dr. Paul Carlson Memorial Park.  The Museum of Jurassic Technology is an offbeat museum that offers bizarre exhibits.

Tito Taco is a Mexican fast food joint that is one of the most popular in all of Southern California.  The Culver Hotel, a pie-slice-shaped hotel in downtown Culver was built in 1924, and is now a city landmark.
