Open House Downey


Located in southeast Los Angeles County, Downey is a growing city that has seen its population rise to approximately 110,000 in recent years.  Downey is approximately 13 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, and is strategically situated between the business hubs of Los Angeles and Orange County, which offers easy access to seaports, freeways, airports, and railroads.   

Downey is home to the first Taco Bell, opened by Glen Bell in March of 1962, as well as the fourth and oldest surviving McDonalds.  Another famed restaurant that calls Downey home is Johnie’s Broiler, which is a much celebrated drive in and coffee shop that has been featured in several films.

Downey is served by the Downey Unified School District, which is comprised of thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools.  The city also has its own police department (The Downey Police Department).  

Downey is conveniently located near a plethora of freeways, including Interstate 5, Interstate 605, Interstate 105 and Interstate 710, which means easy access to downtown Los Angeles, beaches, and Los Angeles International Airport.
