Open House El Monte

Located just a few miles east of downtown Los Angeles, South El Monte has grown into a feasible community that has prospered due to its prime location. The 2000 census listed a population of just over 21,000 for South El Monte. Figuring into that number were a total of 4,620 households and 4,088 families residing within South El Monte city limits.
Several commercial and manufacturing firms have bought into South El Monte and have decided to open up offices and factories there, both of which have boosted the city’s economy and population. A report recently claimed that South El Monte was home to over 2,400 businesses. That number might not jump up and scream at you, but when you consider that South El Monte has a 3.25 square-mile radius it certainly opens your eyes. All of this is an accurate example of the city’s mission to “Foster and stimulate economic growth through the implementation of economic development programs and services.”
South El Monte is served by the El Monte Unified School District. The district offers six elementary schools and two high schools for students to choose from. South El Monte has also created a Housing Division, which offers several programs that are directed to aid homeowners, both new and existing, be able to afford their homes in South El Monte. Once again, the city is staying true to its word by ‘fostering and stimulating economic growth.’
