Open House Hermosa Beach

Named by the Los Angeles Times as an “outstanding coastal town” not too long ago, Hermosa Beach is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Southern California.  Hermosa Beach is known for its breathtaking ocean views, fine dining, popular nightclubs, and upscale shops.

Hermosa Beach is located in the South Bay region in Los Angeles County, and is considered one of their three Beach Cities, the other two being Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach.  Of the three cities, only Hermosa owns its own beach (the others are owned by the city of Los Angeles).

Residents are encouraged to walk, jog, rollerblade, or bicycle along on a paved beach path called The Strand, which runs north twenty miles all the way up to Santa Monica, and a few miles south to neighboring Redondo Beach.   Considered by most as one of the most stunning beaches that California has to offer, Hermosa has the luxury of a gentle western sea breeze that not only makes for a pleasant breeze, but also prevents smog from entering its salty beach front air.

Beach volleyball and surfing are the two most trendy recreational activities amongst the locals.  That same western breeze that cools residents off also creates large incoming waves that are a hit among local surfers.  Tabbed as the Beach Volleyball Capital of the World, you can bet there is plenty of beach volleyball taking place among Hermosa Beach residents.

At the 2000 census, Hermosa beach had an estimated population of just under 19,000 residents.  Residents of Hermosa are served by its own (Hermosa Beach) elementary and middle school, while high school aged kids typically are educated at nearby Redondo or Manhattan Beach high schools.
