Open House La Mirada

Located in the eastern section of Los Angeles County, La Mirada had an estimated population of 46,783 at the 2000 census.  Perhaps best known for being the home of Biola University, which used to be called the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.  The University is a private evangelical Christian college known for its conservative theology teachings.

La Mirada has just opened up a brand new pirate-themed aquatics center known as Splash!.  The facility, set to open in October of 2007, is comprised of both a 50-meter pool and a 100-yard pool.  Splash! also offers a play area for children, complete with two water slides and a lazy river.

La Mirada is served by the La Mirada-Norwalk Unified School District.  The District currently serves over 24,000 students and offer eighteen elementary schools, seven middle schools, and three comprehensive high schools.  The district also offers an award winning continuation high school, adult schools, as well as satellite classes at other sites.

Praised by the Los Angeles Times as “one of the best Broadway-style houses in Southern California,” the La Mirada Theatre is a state of the art theatre that has been open since September, 1977.  The theatre has hosted more than three million patrons and over 4,000 performances since its debut.

With award winning schools, a scenic setting, mild climate, and several attractions located within La Mirada, its no wonder the city was voted by CNN Money Magazine as a “Best Place to Live” city.  The list featured 100 U.S. cities with populations between 7,500 and 50,000.  La Mirada placed 34th on the list.
