Open House Lakewood

Located in the southeastern portion of Los Angeles County, Lakewood is bordered by Long Beach on the west and south, Bellflower to the north, Cypress to the east, and Hawaiian Gardens to the southeast.  The city of Lakewood currently has an estimated population of 82,000 residents.

Nicknamed the “Instant City” because of its rapid transition from being nothing but lima bean fields in 1950 to being a well developed city by 1960, Lakewood is now the typical post World War II suburb.  Single story houses line up on tree lined streets, forming several boulevards that are as beautiful now as they were 50 years ago.

Lakewood residents are served by four school districts, including the Long Beach Unified School District, Paramount Unified School District, Bellflower Unified School District, and the ABC Unified School District.  There is a plethora of public and private schools for Lakewood residents to choose from.

Lakewood has dozens of several different shopping destinations.  The Lakewood Center is one of the largest malls in all of Southern California, and Lakewood Marketplace, Pioneer Square, and Lakewood Square offer shops and supermarkets that are popular amongst locals.  Most of the city of Lakewood is commercial and retail, composed of approximately 3,000 businesses that make up the economic base of the city.
