Coronado
This small island town in San Diego County is approximately 7.4 square miles in size and is connected to the city of San Diego by the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. Downtown Coronado is filled with some of the most unique shops and restaurants in Southern California. The city has been recognized several times for its clean and safe beaches, and was most recently ranked second best in the country by the Travel Channel.
The 2000 census revealed that Coronado's population was approximately 24,100 residents. Nicknamed “The Tent City” because of the vast number of tourists who visit the city each year, Coronado's economy receives a major boost by hosting these tourists during each summer's travel season.
As is the case with most of Southern California real estate, Coronado has become a rather expensive place to call home over the years. A very modest single family home can cost over $1 million. The San Diego Union Tribune newspaper revealed that the average cost of a single-family home was approximately $1,605,000, making it the third most expensive city to call home in San Diego County and in the top twenty in the United States.
