Del Mar
Del Mar is Spanish for “by the sea,” and in this case, the meaning is the absolute truth. Situated along the coast, this petite, two square mile city located in San Diego County is home to approximately 4,500 residents. Among those residents there are approximately 1,082 families and 2,178 households within city limits.
One of Del Mar's most well known attractions is the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which is also home to the Del Mar Racetrack. The Del Mar Fairgrounds is made up of 370 acres and is home to the San Diego County Fair each year. The Del Mar Racetrack is exactly one mile in length and one of the few racetracks that runs counter-clockwise. The track was founded in 1937 by Bing Crosby and Pat O'Brien, who were then able to convince Paramount Studios to be the corporate sponsor.
The city offers picturesque views from its canyons and hillsides, and offers a wide variety of attractions for all ages. The city is located twenty miles north of the city of San Diego, and is bordered to the south by Torrey Pines State Reserve. To the west of Del Mar is the one and only Pacific Ocean!
