Encinitas

Located along the coastline in northern San Diego County, Encinitas has a population of approximately 60,000 residents.  Filled with sandy beaches, cliffs, bluffs, and rolling hills, the city of Encinitas was incorporated in 1986.  The incorporation drew a slew of communities together, including New (and Old) Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, and Olivenhain.

Downtown Encinitas' shopping district, known as Downtown 101, features boutique shops, sidewalk cafes, and several upscale restaurants.  Encinitas Ranch Golf Course is one of the finest in all of Southern California.  It offers a championship 18-hole par 72 course that has been featured in numerous golf magazines and television.

As is the case with most coastal towns in Southern California, the beaches in Encinitas are amazing.  Each year, several surfing tournaments are held within Encinitas city limits, and surfers from all over the world visit the city to partake in the events.  Near the beaches, The San Elijo Lagoon Reserve is the most well known (and largest) coastal wetland in San Diego County.  The Reserve is home to over 300 different bird species throughout the course of the year.

The city is served by the Cardiff Elementary School District, Encinitas Union School District, Mira Costa College District, and the San Dieguito Union High School District.  Each district offers a wide array of schools for residents of Encinitas to choose from, making it easy and affordable for students to receive a quality education while calling Encinitas their home.
